Seminar on Drug Abuse Prevention at Samnabad College for Women

A seminar was held by Aghaz-e-Nau (a nonprofit organization) and Anti Narcotics Force (ANF), Pakistan  in collaboration with Samnabad College for Women, Lahore on 24th March, 2011. Chief Guest , Mr. Muhammad Altaf Qamar, Deputy Director General, Anti Narcotics Force, Pakistan joined the event to grace the occasion. The seminar was carried out to introduce the objectives of “Drug Free Lahore City Project” and to educate young students on harmful effects of drug abuse. The Seminar started with The National Anthem. Comparing was done by Ms. Saira, one of the students of Samnabad College for Women. The formal session started with the Recitation of Qur’an followed by Naat by Ms. Varda, one of the students of Samnabad College. Ms. Maria Ali, Drug Demand Reduction Officer, Anti Narcotics Force (ANF), Punjab gave a presentation on Classification of drugs and how drugs are used. World AIDS Day

Started on 1st December 1988, World AIDS Day is about increasing awareness, fighting prejudice and improving education. The World AIDS Day theme for 2010 is   'Universal Access and Human Rights' . World AIDS Day is important in reminding people that HIV has not gone away, and that there are many things still to be done. According to UNAIDS estimates, there are now 33.4 million people living with HIV, including 2.1 million children. During 2008 some 2.7 million people became newly infected with the virus and an estimated 2 million people died from AIDS. Around half of all people who become infected with HIV do so before they are 25 and are killed by AIDS before they are 35. The vast majority of people with   HIV   and   AIDS   live in lower- and middle-income countries . But HIV today is a threat to men, women and children on all continents   around the world . The protection of human rights is fundamental to combating the global HIV and AIDS epidemic. Violations against human
