Started on 1st December 1988, World AIDS Day is about increasing awareness, fighting prejudice and improving education. The World AIDS Day theme for 2010 is   'Universal Access and Human Rights' . World AIDS Day is important in reminding people that HIV has not gone away, and that there are many things still to be done. According to UNAIDS estimates, there are now 33.4 million people living with HIV, including 2.1 million children. During 2008 some 2.7 million people became newly infected with the virus and an estimated 2 million people died from AIDS. Around half of all people who become infected with HIV do so before they are 25 and are killed by AIDS before they are 35. Punjab AIDS Control Program (PACP) is organizing a Drama Competition. The program is being organized in collaboration with UNICEF, UNAIDS along with different educational institutes on 1st December, 2010 at Hotel Holiday Inn. Students who wish to attend the event can collect invitation cards from me.

Aghaz-e-Nau (AeN) plans to start certified  training workshops for young students on "Drug Abuse Prevention Counseling".  AeN will run 2 training workshops over a period of 2 months starting from November, 2010. Training workshops will be conducted twice a week (Saturday & Sunday) from 10:am to 2:pm (32 credit hours).  All the training sessions will be full of activities and highly interactive.  First session will start from  Saturday, 6th of November. A ghaz-e-Nau (AeN) plans to carry out “An Innovative Community Based Drug Abuse Prevention and Awareness Program” with the following features: 1- Youth development program – AeN will provide training to young students in drug abuse prevention counseling. A total number of 240 students will receive training. These students will be certified as youth leaders .
